A new entertainment space is coming to Winston-Salem.

Carter and Front Street Capital is teaming up with the city and Wake Forest University for a project called "The Grounds."

Wake Forest University has appointed developers Carter and Front Street Capital to undertake a mixed-use development project that aims to revitalise the area incorporating a number of its sports venues.

Mayor Allen Joines calls plans for the major mixed-use development “a roadmap to a new era of vibrancy and opportunity” for Winston-Salem.

Winston-Salem’s Front Street Capital and Atlanta-based developer Carter plan to break ground in December on an $150 million project that will put retail, residential and office space near Wake Forest University’s football stadium and baseball park.

Plans were announced today to redevelop 100 acres of land owned by Wake Forest University.

The Grounds include housing, restaurants, and walking trails.

Front Street Capital and Atlanta's real estate development firm Carter have $35 million to get started on the first phase of the planned redevelopment project around Wake Forest University’s off -campus athletic facilities.
